JABBER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Double-click on the Setup file.
This will begin the program installation.
You will then see a license agreement.
Please click on the "I Agree" Button.

You will then see the following screen.
Make sure the SSL Support option is checked.
Please click the "Next" button.

This page will prompt you for the installation directory.
We will just use the defaults.
Please click the "Next" button.

This screen is asking about the Start Menu Folder.
We will just use the defaults.
Please click the "Next" button.

This screen shows that the installation has completed.
We are almost done.
Please click the "Next" button.

This is the final Setup Screen.
We are now ready to create a user account.
Please check the box to Run MSU-Jabber and click "Finish."

This screen will prompt us for a Username.
Please enter the Username you would like to use.
This should be something that your collegues will be able to identify as you.
You should also enter your password at this time as well.
Check the boxes “Save Password” and “This is a new account.”

Now, click the “SSL” tab.

Choose the 3rd option.

Click “OK.”

We are now at the Login screen.
You will now see your account listed here:
username@jabber.mcneese.edu/McNeese
Please click on the "OK" button

Choose the option to “Always allow this SSL certificate.”

Once you are logged in, you will see the screen below.

Make sure you see the lock at the bottom right for “SSL enabled.”  If not, call 5995 and place a work order.
At this point, we have no users added to our contact list.
We need to click on the "Add Contact" button which is represented with the green button with white + sign.

This screen will prompt you for the Contact ID.
The Contact ID is the username of the other person (usually first initial last name…example: jdoe).
You can also add a “Nickname” for the person.
If you wish to group your contacts, click the link “Add a new Group.”
Type your Group Name and click “OK”.
Click the down-arrow by the Group Name and to choose it.

When done, please click the "OK" button.

At last, press your F4 key.

Check the first two boxes under “System Options.”
  Uncheck box “Check for updates automatically.”

Type what you want your default nickname to be.

Click “Apply” and “OK.”
